Twitter Turned Election Day Into 'Obama Day' To Celebrate The First Family

While some Americans are excited to head to the polls and vote this Election Day, others are sad that we’re nearing the end of Barack Obama’s presidency. 


On Tuesday, April Reign, a popular Twitter user ― who also created the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag ― started the hashtag #ObamaDay in celebration of the first family to, she told The Huffington Post, “say thank you and let them know how much they will be missed.”


“I wanted people to remember the positive energy and jubilation we felt when he was elected and re-elected,” Reign said. “Hopefully people will transfer some of that energy to today as they prepare to vote after one of the ugliest election seasons in our history.”
