'SNL' Takes On Health Care And 'Morning Joe' Romance

This week’s cold open of “Saturday Night Live” pulled off a triple takedown of President Donald Trump and newly engaged couple Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Kate McKinnon, playing Brzezinski, and Alex Moffat, playing Scarborough, veered from being frustrated about Trump and the GOP to making kissing faces.

McKinnon/Brzezinski first rails against the House vote to kill Obamacare.

“It’s crazy. I’m up it, I’m over it, I’m passed it. I’m in the driveway. The car is running,” she says. “This party, your party, the Republican Party is completely morally bankrupt.”

“Oh, Mika, that’s enough, you’re being sickening because you know it ... pushes … my … buttons,” says a steamy Moffat/Scarborough.

McKinnon complains about loss of insurance  for pre-existing conditions.

“A C-section is a pre-existing condition. And you what’s not a pre-existing condition? Erectile dysfunction,” she points out.

“Well, hold on,” Moffat interrupts. “Mika, you’re being dramatic. Mika mouse. ... Mika-boo.”

The pair then chats on the phone with “publicist John Miller,” who sounds astonishingly like Alec Baldwin does when portraying Trump. In past years, Trump reportedly pretended to be a publicist named John Miller to give interviews about himself.

“I’m just celebrating the fantastic success we had in Congress with the new health care law,” he tells the hosts. “After Congress voted we had a party. There was beer. The disaster that is Obamacare has finally been repealed.”

“Hold on, sir. It’s not repealed yet. The bill still has to pass the Senate,” Moffat says.

Miller/Baldwin/Trump responds with confusion: “But there was beer.”

“The president is mentally ill,” McKinnon says after they hang up.

“Mika,” Moffat says, “You’re being very naughty.”
