Olympian Proudly Says 'Black Girls Rock' As She Accepts Gold Medal

When Brianna Rollins won the gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles ― leading the United States to the first event sweep in Olympic history ― on Wednesday, she informed the world of one thing they should’ve known by now.

In an Instagram video uploaded on Thursday, Rollins stands on the podium with the silver and bronze medalists, her teammates Nia Ali and Kristi Castlin. As an Olympic official handed Rollins her prize, she leaned in and told the athlete “black girls rock.”

Without hesitation, Rollins proudly responded, “Black girls rock, they do. Yes!”

As the three black women stood on the Olympic podium in such a historic moment, it’s hard to disagree with Rollins’ proclamation.

Watch this beautiful moment in the Instagram video below.
