Beyoncé Game, Set, Slayed Wimbledon In White To Cheer On Serena Williams

In the grand tradition of Beyoncé distracting everybody on the sidelines of sporting events, Queen Bey attended the Wimbledon women’s singles championship match on Saturday with husband Jay Z in tow to support Serena Williams.

The two were spotted seated behind Williams’ mother in the stands on day 12 of the tournament at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.

Wearing coordinated white ensembles, Bey paired her lacy Self Portrait frock with dark circular glasses and a braided ponytail, while Jay opted for a classic white tee and black baseball cap.

Williams went on to win the match against Germany’s Angelique Kerber, securing her seventh Wimbledon win and 22nd Grand Slam singles title, a feat matched by only one other woman in the history of the sport. Card-carrying BeyHive members will also, of course, remember that Williams made a cameo in Beyoncé’s music video for “Sorry,” where she twerked in a black leotard as the singer watched.

“I’ve known Bey for a long time,” Williams told the Wall Street Journal Magazine last month. “I got really sore from dancing!”

But Bey and Jay weren’t the only ones to show up for Williams’ historic win. Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi and Billie Jean King were also in attendance, as well as Rashida Jones and Natalie Portman.

After Williams’ victory, celebrities were quick to celebrate her on social media, emphasizing how much this moment means in a week marked by senseless tragedies.
